Providing free, one-on-one support for loneliness,

one conversation at a time

At CONTACT Line, we prioritize active listening and emotional support for those experiencing anything from loneliness to a rough week. The mental health benefits of casual face-to-face interactions have encouraged us to create a free, accessible platform distinct from existing call and text lines to provide individualized and consistent meetings with volunteer Listeners trained in empathy, active listening, motivational interviewing, and other evidenced-based practices to provide comprehensive support to those in need. While we are in no way a replacement for therapy or other medical-based interventions, we hope to provide a nourishing, genuine, and caring environment for those who are lonely and need someone to talk to.

How it Works

Schedule a 30 minute conversation with a rigorously trained volunteer,
or Listener, to discuss anything on your mind.

Meet with the Listener via Zoom. Schedule again with the same Listener and have
up to 6 conversations.

If you're interested, we'd love to hear your feedback on what you liked (or disliked) about each conversation with a Listener.

Nonverbal cues like facial expressions, gestures, and gaze engender emotional trust and enhance understanding between people. The "eye contact effect" illustrates how mutual gaze has a profound impact on cognition and emotion.
